The Betel Apartments are an award winning community revitalization project featuring multi level garden apartments with a common area courtyard and community room. The site was purchased and developed in response to a community initiative targeting under-utilized and abandoned properties as opportunity sites to address the overwhelming need for affordable housing in the Mission District. When the Safeway Market on this site closed, the corner of Hampshire and 24th became increasingly problematic for local residents, and MHDC responded by constructing new affordable housing.
