San Francisco, Calif. — On Wednesday, April 30, Mission Housing Development Corporation welcomed neighbors, public officials, and community partners to La Fénix, 1950 Mission Street, for the District 9 Town Hall—an evening focused on addressing our neighborhood's pressing issues.
This gathering at La Fénix—long a hub of organizing and empowerment—was a testament to Mission Housing's ongoing commitment to providing a space where the community can be heard and supported.
Discussions centered around key issues impacting the neighborhood, including public safety, homelessness, health services, and community investment. City leaders and public agencies shared updates on workforce development initiatives aimed at supporting local economic opportunity, as well as efforts to enhance safety and infrastructure around the 16th Street BART Plaza and its surrounding areas. Strengthening coordination among public agencies and expanding access to essential services, including shelter and health support, were also highlighted as ongoing priorities.
As always, Mission Housing was proud to offer a space where the community could speak directly to those making decisions.
“Mission Housing is honored to open our doors to the community to openly discuss the issues that are important to them,” said Mission Housing’s Executive Team. “La Fénix, 1950 Mission Street, has a rich and storied history of being a place of organizing, where community can feel safe to uplift their collective voice. Wednesday’s meeting is another way we are upholding that legacy.”
Together, we continue building a stronger, safer Mission District—through collaboration, open dialogue, and shared commitment to change.
