San Francisco, Ca
On March 27th, Mission Housing Development Corporation, a community-based affordable housing developer, celebrated the opening of a new computer empowerment lab in Valencia Gardens, one of their residential buildings. This initiative aims to provide residents with access to technology resources and tools that will help bridge the digital divide and empower them to succeed.
With the help of the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development and Dev/Mission, the computer empowerment lab features secure computers, high-speed internet access, and a variety of programs that residents can use to enhance their tech skills.
“By equipping residents with the knowledge and tools to navigate technology, Mission Housing Development Corporation is helping to level the playing field and create opportunities for success,” said Marcia Contreras, Mission Housing’s Deputy Executive Director.
This lab will serve as a valuable resource for residents to search for jobs, complete online training programs and print. By investing in initiatives like the computer empowerment lab, Mission Housing is demonstrating their commitment to building not just affordable housing, but thriving communities where residents can lead fulfilling and productive lives.

This initiative highlights how access to technology has become just as important as access to housing. A computer Trees Hate You empowerment lab can make a real difference for residents who may otherwise be excluded from job opportunities, online education, and essential digital services.
