In This Season of Gratitude, We Cultivate Community

Dear Friends, Advocates, and Allies of Mission Housing, 

As we enter our 55^th year of service to the community, we do so with deep gratitude — and with a profound awareness of the moment we are living through. Across the country and across our city, support for affordable housing and essential community services is being reduced, reshaped, or erased entirely. The ground beneath our most vulnerable neighbors is shifting faster than ever. 

And yet, here at Mission Housing, something powerful is happening. 

We are in a season of cultivation. 

A season of tending to what matters most — our residents, our neighborhoods, and the shared future we are committed to building in San Francisco. 

This season calls for us to grow differently. To root ourselves more firmly in community strength. To nurture new ideas and new partnerships. To rise with the clarity that true affordable housing is not just about concrete, walls, and doors — it is about nourishing the ecosystem of care that makes those buildings home. 

It is in this spirit that we are introducing something new: the Mission Housing Cultivation Network — a growing community of philanthropic givers, corporate partners, and grassroots changemakers like yourselves, united by a shared belief: that everyone deserves secure, affordable, and sustainable housing.  

The Cultivation Network invests in Mission Housing’s ecosystem of affordable housing, community-centered initiatives, and resident empowerment. Through collective giving, members contribute time, expertise, and financial support toward building a stronger San Francisco — one where communities thrive.   

In unpredictable times, when long-standing support systems are under threat, it is our collective care and shared commitment that become the most reliable sources of stability.

You are part of that stability. You are part of our root system. 

Over the coming months, we will share more about how the Cultivation Network will take shape and how you can be part of this collective movement. But today, we simply want to extend our gratitude. For believing in affordable housing as a pathway to dignity. For standing with Mission Housing through every season — the seasons of abundance, and the seasons of scarcity and regrowth.
